I spent the last few days outfitting the mini van. We are using the same set up as last year (custom roof rack, interior platform bed, etc.) but with a few new gadgets. I picked up a 400 watt power inverter from best buy and bought a camp stove. For the last hour I have been trying to put together a rough itinerary but keep getting side tracked. I found this cool restaurant in Hatch, NM that Anthony Bourdain from the travel channel show "No Reservations" at at and loved. I think we will try to go eat there on the trip. My other big secret is I have spent a hours over the last few months trying to locate where in the desert the set is from the film "Manos.... Hands of Fate". I have a strong desire to have my picture taken at the house. It won't be the same of course since the housekeeper Torgo won't be there to take my bags. I cannot explain how excited we are!
The hardest part about today was saying goodbye to our kitten bandit! She is going to stay with Laurens parents this month and we will miss her. We are also picking up trill and barrett at the airport tonight... they just got back from their honeymoon. ...
I am inviting them and my parents to join the blog. Hopefully they will post their awesome summer stuff too. Mom and dad are doing alaska and trill and barret are headed to NYC like tomorroW!
